Role Summary

We are looking to bring on an established, Principal Consultant to support our growing workload within our Transport Advisory team based from either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

This is a pivotal role within our Transport Advisory team which will involve working with clients within the rail and transport sectors, ranging from government transport agencies, private operators to engineering and design partners. Our varied portfolio of work includes rail network strategy development, public transport project business case support, performance modelling and operational assessment. With ongoing remits on major projects including Cross River Rail, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, Direct Sunshine Coast and Auckland Light Rail - and with support provided by rail operations capability throughout AtkinsRéalis globally - there has never been a better time to join our expanding Transport Advisory team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provision of advisory services, based on technical expertise and experience in operations across light rail, metro, passenger or freight rail or Bus Rapid Transit including, but not limited to:

Development of Concepts of Operations and associated operational requirements

Rail operational and infrastructure planning

Rail corridor and network capacity analysis

Assessment of network performance, infrastructure and rolling stock options

Service planning and timetable development and optioneering

Fleet planning and crew rostering

Operational readiness and test &
commissioning

Rail network simulation

Application of operational knowledge and experience across the whole project lifecycle-

Contributing to delivery of projects across the whole lifecycle - from strategic demand and operations planning during feasibility studies or business case phase, through development of operational plans and requirements during procurement, and onto delivery and operational readiness.

Lead project teams and represent AtkinsRéalis in front of key clients and stakeholders, including government-level sponsors and railway operators.

Manage teams of SMEs including those based locally, domestically and globally

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities:

Degree qualified in engineering, transport planning or other relevant disciplines.

Excellent technical, project management and communication skills to lead the delivery of strategic and technical advisory engagements.

Ability to engage with and represent AtkinsRéalis in front of senior stakeholders and government representatives.

Adept at communicating complex ideas to senior non-specialists, including writing and presentation skills.

Experience in managing and building teams of technical SMEs, including input from remote/global SMEs within a project delivery environment.

Ability to support the growth of the business in this sector by leveraging relationships with existing and future client contacts.

Recognised ability to work independently and succeed in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Proficiency with - or the ability to check/approve work in - rail operations simulation tools such as RailSys (TM) by RMCon and/or OpenTrack (TM) would be advantageous
