Eden Ritchie is seeking a Principal Advisor, Project Management Capability to lead the analysis, development and implementation of project management capability development approaches, strategies, plans, support tools and services for Department.

  • 3 month contract with 2 x 1 -month optional extensions
  • Brisbane CBD location

As the Principal Advisor, Project Management Capability, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead in the development and maintenance of OnQ (Department's Project Management Methodology) supplementary materials to create an OnQ framework and resource library of items supporting the application of OnQ in all project phases for infrastructure and corporate projects but not ICT projects.
  • Lead the analysis, development and implementation of capability development approaches, strategies, plans, support tools and services for Department statewide project management and relevant supporting functions and activities.
  • Collaborate in the development, integration, and implementation of subject matter expert capability development approaches, strategies, plans, support tools and services for Department portfolio management, program management and relevant supporting functions and activities.
  • Manage a support role (1 person) in the effective cost centre management, contract management, quality control, and reporting of the Learning and Development - Project Management Capability Uplift agreement (a standing offer agreement).
  • Guide and support Department divisions in their efforts to improve project management capability development.
  • Support strategic leadership and guidance to project management capability developments within Department.
  • Promote best practice organisational project management and a culture of learning and continuous improvement across Department.
  • Evaluate Department's project management learning and development needs through a number of high level as well as operational level needs analysis covering areas such as:
    (1) Training, (2) Project Management Methodology, and (3) Project Officer/Manager skills in order to analyse, determine and action means to improve and mature Department Project Management, and develop training materials aligned with organisational project management principles and practices.
  • Provide specialist advice to Department divisions and units on the requirements, selection and development of specific project management capability initiatives and training programs.
  • Manage the design and development of content for project and program management capability courses including (but not limited to):
  • Online Accelerate compliant design elements.
  • Coordinating the preparation of textual input and other items for inclusion in the training packages from Subject Matter Experts.
  • Preparing input for a range of OnQ and corporate documents relating to project management.
  • Liaise with delivery areas and other customers in relation to learning and development needs.
  • Maintain Learning and Development resources.
  • Work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team to ensure relevant team objectives are achieved.
  • Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Formal qualification in Project Management and/or substantial experience in design/development/delivery of projects.
  • Experience in creating or maintaining a project management method.
  • Current Cert IV Training and Assessment or equivalent or higher adult education qualification.
  • Substantial experience in developing capability development materials and delivering specialised project management training or similar would be highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in learning and development tools would be advantageous.
  • Proven delivery at building Learning and Development solutions (ideally for project management).
