What you'll be doing

Royal Hospital for Women has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to lead the Physiotherapy Department.

This position has operational accountability for the physiotherapy service within The Royal Hospital for Women and reports to The Royal Hospital for Women Director of Nursing and Midwifery or delegate and has professional accountability to the Physiotherapy Advisor. The position is responsible for specialist physiotherapy clinical service provision in all areas of women's health. This is a combined position of Department Head and Clinical Specialist of Women's Health.

The Physiotherapy Department head provides leadership and strategic direction, expert clinical care provision facilitates the implementation of high levels of inpatient and outpatient clinical expertise and consultancy to provide high-quality care to patients/clients and their carers. This includes monitoring, surveillance and reporting of service provision. Evaluation, advanced reasoning and clinical practice skills are required in the management of clients of a novel or complex nature, as well as providing expert consultation and education across SESLHD in the area of women's health. The position contributes directly to the development of policy in alignment with evidence and best practice.

Selection Criteria:

  • Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Professionals (State) Award, current registration with the Board of Physiotherapy and commitment to own ongoing professional development.
  • Extensive management experience as a registered Physiotherapist, knowledge of network policies, procedures, professional and clinical issues relating to women's health.
  • Proven ability to provide high level of leadership and strategic direction, with demonstrated ability to collaboratively design, implement, evaluate and report on departmental resources and services.
  • Evidence of expertise and/or clinical specialisation in Women's Men's &
    Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, including extensive clinical experience, especially of novel, complex and critical presentations of continence &
    women's health disorders and disease.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build sustainable partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in research, education and training including relevant experience in knowledge transfer and the translation of evidence into practice within continence &
    women's health physiotherapy.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction in assisting the flexible utilisation and coordination of resources to enhance service delivery across the system and state-wide network of women's health services.
