Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

The Coverage Risk Manger NFRM is an important role within the NFRM APAC with a specific focus on the Non-Financial Risk portfolio along with businesses and infrastructure functions.

As part of the regional APAC NFRM team the general responsibilities include:

  • Promote the Risk culture and visibility of NFRM, keep abreast and perform effective communication of changes in relevant NFR frameworks, tools, etc. and understand their implications for covered businesses.
  • Effectively perform 2nd Line of Defense monitoring of Risk Appetite for NFR risks and facilitate Risk assessment of Non-Financial Risk Management across the covered Countries (mainly Australia) and Businesses.
  • Act as primary point of contact for Regulatory inspections on NFR matters for allocated Countries (mainly Australia).
  • Contribute to special projects / task forces / working groups relating to the Non-Financial Risk Framework or identified NFR risk issues or operational risk incidents.

For Australia, support the local CRO in Risk initiatives agreed between the CRO and NFRM. This includes supporting the oversight of the Australia risk management framework which encompasses all material risk types (credit, market, liquidity, reputational, climate, strategic, operational).

Your key responsibilities:

The following duties are included in the day-to-day activities:

  • Drive Country Risk Assessment exercise including review of Dynamic RCA data triggers and impact on the risk profiles. Providing challenge, approval or veto as appropriate for the Risk and Control assessment outputs as required.
  • Perform effective challenge process on Risk identification and Assessment activities - e.G., review Lessons Learned, Read Across, New Product Approvals and Risk Acceptances - and measure evidence of challenge and resolution.
  • Produce country/ business specific top risk analysis / risk profiles and represent NFRM in country risk governance structure to be an integral part of the country governance process
  • Monitor control environment and pro-actively manage deficiencies including timely escalation to management (i.E. SII/GFMS issues;
    OR event data quality and risk remediation).
  • Advise key Business and Infrastructure partners on relevant NFR processes and tools, as required.
  • Handle external/internal audits, regulatory submissions, conduct regulatory adherence exercise, on NFRM matters.
  • Key deliverables in supporting the local CRO include coordination of:
    quarterly reporting to senior management;
    annual review of the framework document;
    annual risk culture assessments;
    framework audits;
    risk council meetings.

Your skills and experience:

  • At least 10-14 years of relevant working experience in Tier 1 Banks, Consulting Firms or Multi-national Accounting Firms, with experience in Risk Management, Controls or any other profile related to Non-Financial Risk Management
  • Experience in managing Governance processes in the organisation, Regulatory and Internal/External Auditor engagements independently
  • Good knowledge of Banking products, Regulatory guidelines on Non-financial Risk Management themes
  • Ability to operate independently, to work in fast paced environment
  • Analytic, flexible problem solving mindset
  • Ability to lead and navigate different opinions
  • Masters in Finance, Business or Economics
  • Very strong and persuasive communication skills and ability to communicate effectively to Senior Management
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Products knowledge, experience in system development a plus
  • Have a work right in Australia
