AMPS has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Consulting Manager - Open Pit to make a meaningful impact in business growth, client relationships and employee performance. We are seeking a senior mining engineer with significant Open Pit experience and management potential to join our team to strategically develop and manage the Open Pit Department's capabilities, environment, client relationships and service delivery.

About You

You will be a strong relationship builder with mining networks, who can create value for clients, employees, and other stakeholders. With a strategic mindset, adaptability across evolving environments, project management skills and quality focus, you will be highly motivated to achieve business goals whilst thriving in day-to-day operational management including the recruitment, development and deployment of mining engineers.

Role Objectives

- Work closely with the General Manager and AMPS management team informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the Open Pit (OP) Department and AMPS.

- Oversee the daily operations of the OP department, providing direction of strategy, compliance, and quality assurance.

- Develop, build and manage a multi-dimensional OP department including upskilling, mentoring and training department members.

- Identify and implement staffing requirements for efficient operations, maintaining a strong culture and work climate that attracts and retains staff and drive AMPS' mission.

- Successfully pursue, tender for, win and complete OP projects for clients.

- Develop and grow market awareness of AMPS' OP capabilities and create external partnerships and commercial relationships that lead to future business opportunities.

- Represent the business and increase brand awareness.

- Pursue strategic opportunities identified to grow the AMPS business, as well as identifying and assessing new opportunities.

- Support the success and growth of all departments within the AMPS Consulting business.

Your daily role may involve you to:

- lead, manage and develop the OP Department within AMPS.

- attract, engage, and retain talent within the OP Department.

- lead and enhance the OP team development programs.

- recruit, develop, mentor, train and upskill the OP Engineering team.

- help to develop strategy within the OP Department as required for new business.

- undertake client engagement, relationship management and business development activities to maximise growth and win work for the OP Department.

- identify and successfully pursue leads or opportunities for the OP Department work.

- create proposals and tender for projects for the OP department.

- coordinate site mobilisation and deployment of the OP team.

- liaise with Business Support with employee and project logistics.

- manage invoices, expenses, and payroll for the OP Department.

- perform CRM management for the OP Department.

- provide site-based engineering support and contract work as required.

- conduct engineering department reviews and optimisations for clients.

- manage and deliver projects.

- conduct peer reviews and technical report writing.

- complete other reasonably expected duties as required.

What you'll bring to the role

- Strongly committed to the AMPS values and mission

- Over 15 years' experience in mining engineering

- Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team

- Ability to work collaboratively across the business

- Strong business development background is highly regarded

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Qualifications and experience

- Bachelor of Engineering in a mining related sphere with relevant industry experience

- In-depth knowledge of industry leading processes and systems

- Existing relationships and partnerships within the mining industry

Knowledge, skills and abilities

- Stakeholder management skills especially with our clients

- Ability to coach and mentor team members
