Managing Principal Lawyer (Public Law)

Role Purpose

This newly created role is responsible for managing and co-ordinating all public legal and regulatory matters (including governmental investigations / reviews) pertaining to VHBA and providing expert strategic guidance and advice to on a wide range of complex legal issues. The role will require influencing stakeholders at all levels of VHBA and the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) to ensure decisions and outcomes are informed and best for VHBA.

Your work will have a tangible impact on our local community. Your day-to-day work will involve advising on a variety of multi-million-dollar health infrastructure projects, from the construction of new hospitals, redevelopments of public hospitals to grass roots initiatives like early parenting centres and facilities supporting the health-led response to drug and alcohol issues. You will be responsible for identifying and assisting VHBA to manage legal risk and compliance, providing innovative and practical and compliant solutions and risk control strategies and identifying new opportunities in the management of legal issues.

Victorian Health Building Authority

The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. Our diverse projects span the health, mental health and aged care portfolios across metropolitan, regional and rural settings and ambulance branches across Victoria. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines. Our priority is to provide innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions that will ensure our health system meets the needs of all Victorians now and into the future.

Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA)

VIDA is responsible for delivering the largest transport and health infrastructure program in Victorian history. This includes more than 200 projects such as the Metro Tunnel, North East Link, West Gate Tunnel, removing 110 level crossings, building new hospitals and upgrades to ambulance stations, specialist health services and early parenting centres. Led by the Director-General, VIDA is comprised of the four project offices - Victorian Health Building Authority, Major Road Projects Victoria, Level Crossing Removal Project and the Metro Tunnel Project.
