We are seeking a Manager, Strategic Policy within our Government and Policy Division. We are looking for an engaged, innovative and enthusiastic team player with demonstrated experience building and maintaining good relationships across teams and agencies. You must be adept at working in a fast-paced, diverse and cross-cultural workplace and network to produce tangible and practical outcomes.
As Manager and part of the Division's broader leadership group you will:
- You will lead a team that is responsible for coordinating and advising on Austrade's participation in whole of government policy development and implementation, as well as coordination of Austrade's engagement with DFAT on cross-portfolio policy matters.
- You will manage and guide Austrade's preparations and processes for the Federal Budget, ensuring a coordinated response from the agency, aligned with DFAT portfolio objectives. Paramount to these efforts is establishing strong working relationships with Austrade's internal finance team, DFAT's budget finance team, and colleagues across the division and Austrade.
- You will drive the implementation of Austrade's implementation and evaluation framework to support policy design, program implementation and policy accountability to the Government, while building evaluation awareness and capability across Austrade through support and guidance as required.
The ideal candidate will have well-developed understanding and demonstrated experience in whole-of-government collaboration and Federal Budget processes to deliver outcomes for Austrade.

The key duties of the position include:

Working across the agency and with DFAT on policy, the Federal Budget, and State and Territory engagement relating to the agency's and Australia's economic activity.
- Leading and nurturing team members to provide accurate and timely policy advice to colleagues, senior executive and other agencies regarding Austrade's role and priorities to support trade, investment and the visitor economy.
- Building and maintaining networks to engage regularly with other relevant government departments to ensure Austrade's position is relayed in whole-of-government policy initiatives.
- Supporting team members to coordinate and develop input into Austrade reports, briefs and government inquiries and submissions.
- Delivering high-quality data-driven briefing, analysis and policy advice to the Minister and the Executive to inform and influence government deliberations and outcomes.
- Representing Austrade in whole-of-government processes and supporting the Executive in policy deliberations that impact the business environment and Australia's international trade, investment, education and visitor economy competitiveness.

Security Clearance - Our successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance.
