The Business Institutional and Market Operations Chief Controls Office (BIMO CCO) is a first line of defence function that provides comprehensive and integrated risk services in support of the Business &
Institutional Market Operations (BIMO). The value proposition of BIMO CCO is to provide skilled, practical and efficient risk management to support the COO in the delivery of excellent business and customer outcomes.
The BIMO CCO function delivers effective business and customer outcomes through the following risk services:

  • Implementation and adherence to the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Specialist advice, consultation, and services to support the business in identifying, monitoring, and managing its respective risks and controls.
  • Build and embedment of strong risk capability and culture across the Chief Operating Office.
  • Risk governance and reporting.
  • Risk in Change assessment in support of project and transformation activities across the COO.
  • Supplier risk assessment and governance.


Do work that matters:

This role will report to the Senior Manager, Risk and Control Enablement. The role supports the CommSec Operations business.
This role will build and manage productive relationships with the following individuals and groups:

  • Business Banking Operations
  • CommSec
  • Line 2
  • Chief Operations Office
  • Chief Controls Office Centres of Excellence


Key responsibilities for this role includes:

  • Responsible for supporting the CommSec Operations business in the implementation and adherence with the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and Compliance Management Framework.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation / support the business to design and implement controls to enable better risk and compliance outcomes.
  • Manage Root Cause Analysis of issues and incidents, identifying and implementing control improvements for the business areas they support.
  • Support business stakeholders to improve / automation of processes.
  • Assist in the development of operational risk training programmes to increase risk awareness and culture across the CommSec Operations.
  • Responsible for reporting on operational risk and control profiles, issues, incidents and other matters when risk trigger events occur or as required for regular reporting.
  • Work effectively with Line 2 and Audit to determine optimal course of action to remediate any significant data integrity issues.
  • Engage with people across various parts of the CommSec and wider Group.


We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Sound experience in Operational Risk and Compliance Management frameworks.
  • CommSec/CommSec Operations experience would be advantageous.
  • Understand Operations and/or Technology Controls and ability to apply them to new change being implemented into the Bank.
  • Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems.
  • An academic or a professional qualification in a related field that supports the performance of the position is preferrable.
