Role Overview:

As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in our Legal, Compliance, and Governance team, safeguarding the legal and commercial interests of our Group across various Asia-Pacific jurisdictions. You will provide expert legal advice, draft contracts, manage compliance and governance functions, and contribute to shaping and executing our strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and draft changes to standard form contracts, as well as draft new forms of contracts.
  • Assist in major transactions and investments, including due diligence, negotiations, and approvals.
  • Provide legal advice across multiple areas including hotels, construction, property, financial services, employment, and corporate law.
  • Manage compliance, governance, and regulatory issues affecting our funds, asset management accounts, commercial real estate, hotels, and development businesses.
  • Handle litigation matters and advise on claims, including those concerning customers/guests, suppliers, investors, and regulators.
  • Liaise with external counsel and/or manage the legal aspects of debt finance.
  • Conduct training and development programs to foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
  • Assist in preparing legal, governance, and compliance reports for various boards and committees.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations across relevant jurisdictions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent;
    additional qualifications such as a Master's in Law or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in one or more Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
  • Minimum of 4-5 pre-qualified years' experience in a legal role within the hospitality, asset management, or real estate industry.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting a variety of commercial agreements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Ensure compliance with security and safety standards, including cyber/technology security measures.
  • Adhere to company policies concerning consumer and competition laws, bribery regulations, and data privacy.
  • Champion hazard identification, risk evaluation, and implementation of control measures.
  • Maintain exemplary standards of behavior and appearance in accordance with company's code of conduct.
  • Implement financial control procedures and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Promote alignment between corporate priorities and responsible business goals.
  • Demonstrate awareness of WH&
    S policies and procedures, ensuring adherence across the department.
  • Develop community awareness and involvement in outreach efforts.
  • Enforce adherence to legal guidelines, compliance protocols, and in-house policies.
  • Carry out other duties as required to achieve company objectives.
