Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Counsel to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide legal, risk, and compliance advice contributing to the overall growth and success of the business. What you'll do:
As a Legal Counsel, you will play an instrumental role in providing comprehensive legal support across the organisation. You will contribute positively towards continuous improvement activities within the organisation:
- Providing timely, commercial and accurate legal advice relevant to the day-to-day business operations
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts including construction contracts, services agreements, operating agreements, sub-leases, licences, security documents and other related documentation
- Undertaking legal reviews following tender processes and advising on legal risks relevant to contract award
- Supporting the team in reviewing access to service requests from external stakeholders and complying with regulatory obligations
- Identifying and managing legal risks for the business
- Assisting in ensuring statutory and contractual compliance and engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Managing commercial disputes and leading or assisting with settlement negotiations
- Supporting in providing legal advice and reports to the board
- Assisting in drafting and reviewing internal policies and procedures
- Delivering internal training on relevant legal issues and risk areas
What you bring:
- Current or ability to obtain an unrestricted legal practising certificate
- Bachelor of Laws degree
- At least 4 - 8 years post admission experience, partly within a law firm environment
- Substantial experience as a construction or commercial lawyer in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts
- Experience in resolving disputes
- Some experience with workplace or employment related issues
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills particularly in relation to negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
