Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

About the team

With big goals, come big ideas. And our Legal team is there every step of the way - ideating, providing strategic legal advice and collaborating with Canvanauts across the globe to bring our ideas to life.

That's why when you join our Intellectual Property Legal team, you'll work on matters that matter.

As Canva continues to grow, we are recruiting a new Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property to support our global brand protection strategy. You'll not only get to work on our Canva global brand, but you'll also play a pivotal role in the development and protection of our European brands, including Affinity, Flourish, Kaleido, Pexels and Pixabay. You'll become a trusted advisor, working closely with stakeholders across our Product, Marketing, Content Design and Community teams.

What you'll do

  • Carry out trade mark prosecution and rights maintenance work
  • Work closely with Legal Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel in the IP team to provide support on trademark and brand-related matters
  • Support Canva's IP enforcement efforts by investigating infringing content and domain names
  • Work with our brand protection vendors to review infringement reports and proactively monitor brand infringements online
  • Develop guidelines, support materials and training on trademarks and brand protectionSupport the IP team on other priorities and projects as needed

What we're looking for

  • Experience in trade mark prosecution and brand clearance work, gained from a law firm or in-house role
  • Prior experience with domain enforcement processes would be beneficial
  • An individual with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, able to balance legal risks with business goals
  • Confident communicator, able to translate complex legal concepts into concise practical advice
