Lead Technologist ? Virtual Cloud Networking And Security (Apj) Sydney, New South Wales
The Networking and Security solution team is focused on driving business transformation and accelerating the adoption of VMware Virtual Cloud Networking solution pillar across focused industry verticals.
As Lead Technologist, you act as a technical thought leader in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region helping scale their knowledge across multiple strategic accounts by establishing long term relationship with customers, articulating and evangelizing such Networking and Security solutions within the industry, and evangelizing these across VMware field technical teams. You will help define vision, strategy and multi-year transformational blueprint for decision makers and help them understand and choose the benefits of VMware Virtual Cloud Networking and Security solutions for their business to help drive growth and at the same time mitigate risks.

you understand what thecustomers need and you provide sound advice to your customers in meeting those needs it. You are detail-driven, with an extremely strong technical background in Networking and/or Security and have a track record of excellent problem-solving skills. Ideally, you are well known in the Networking and Security industry and you have lots of experience speaking in major technology event. You are consistently curious about how things work and love to tinker with new products and technologies. You learn from your mistakes, and you enjoy working with really smart people. You are comfortable briefing senior leadership, even when you have bad news;
you can communicate effectively with business and technical teams both verbally and in writing. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and resourcefulness is a must.
Present VMware Virtual Cloud Networking (VCN) vision and technologies, strategy, and product roadmaps to executives, technical management and technical engineers
Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of cloud computing and networking applications, industry directions, and trends
Maintain working knowledge of competitive architectures
Act as a Virtual Cloud Networking and Security Technical thought leader in APJ
Assist sales in preparation of proposals, statement of work, and supporting documents for prospects
Work collaboratively with sales team, product management, technical marketing and engineering during the development, launch and continuing refinement of VCN related products
Maintain, grow, and leverage technical pre-sales relationships with key partner field organizations and VMware Architects &
Understand, architect and articulate the impact of Software Defined approach with deep knowledge of Networking infrastructure and Security standards (in network security space).
Work with a geographically distributed team
10+ years? experience in Networking and/or Network Security technology related work, including pre-sales systems engineer or customer-facing engineer working on large scale enterprise and service provider environments
Expert level understanding of Data Center networking fabric topologies and common architectures deployed.
Ability to communicate with CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, Network Architects, Security Architects or admins;
and vary the message and content based on audience
Been viewed as authority and trusted advisor of Networking and/or Security space in at least 5 existing or past customers.
Experience speaking and presenting in major technology / customer events.
Translate customer requirements and quantify them to bring back to product management
Must be comfortable and have a desire for hands-on duties supporting customers during product demonstrations, training, and PoCs
Ability to Proof of Concepts onsite with customers and project manage the entire activity
A Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
Industry leading technical certifications such as VCDX, CCIE or CISSP are highly desirable
5+ years? experience working with industry leading Software Defined Networking (SDN) product such as NSX or ACI
Experience or good understanding of any of the following cloud management systems:
OpenStack, CloudStack, vRealise Automation (vRA), vCloud Director (vCD)
Hypervisor hands on and architecture experience in at least one of the following:
VMware / Xen / KVM
Familiarity of other VMware Infrastructure stacks in virtualization ? compute, storage and networking, SDDC or VCF is a plus
