Due to continued growth, Pallas Capital's Structured Finance and Investment team has an opportunity for an experienced Investment Manager.

Job Description

About the role

The purpose of this role is to execute and manage funding strategies for real estate investment and development projects utilising a variety of senior debt, mezzanine debt and equity structures. This role works closely with the senior members of Structured Finance Team, internal development teams (Fortis), internal Credit &
Loan Management teams (Pallas Capital) and the Distribution Team. The role includes the ongoing portfolio management and reporting of Fortis's debt and equity positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct funding tables and feasibility models for development projects;
  • Prepare credit risk assessments or pitch documents (e.G. information memorandum) for real estate development and investment transactions for internal and external purposes to cover senior debt, mezzanine debt, preferred equity and ordinary equity;
  • Structure financial models and provide recommendations to the Reporting Manager and/or CIO;
  • Provide assistance to all phases of project funding, which include the competitive funding tenders, negotiation of transaction terms, property valuation, cost verification with quantity surveyor, legal documentation processes and management of post-settlement reporting;
  • To prepare requests for loan condition amendments and extensions to internal and external funders;
  • Leading the continuous improvement of processes, templates, tools and procedures;
  • Managing compliance with loan covenants across the Fortis portfolio Managing investments and tracking individual investment and portfolio progress;
  • Oversee portfolio reporting including timely and accurate investor and internal reports;
    and
  • Assist the Reporting Manager with any due diligence requirements and/or credit processes for loans to be funded by Pallas Capital or any special projects from time to time.
  • Represent Pallas Capital and Fortis at external events;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders such as valuers, lawyers, bank relationship managers, quantity surveyors and borrowers.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in real estate investment banking, debt advisory and/or direct property development experience as an analyst
  • Experience building, using and/or reviewing financial models
  • Experience working in property funds management
  • Experience working with acquisition, development and fund models
  • Tertiary qualifications in in Commerce, Property Economics, Finance, Accounting or related discipline experience
  • CFA or post graduate Finance (desirable)
  • Knowledge of property valuation principles, real estate finance structures for investment and development across the major asset classes
  • Willingness to learn and grown within the real estate structured finance space
  • Proficient in excel
  • Strong report writing and financial and credit analysis skills
  • Ability to read and interpret feasibilities, valuation reports and market information
  • Ability to project manage a real estate transaction from start to finish
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to see through to conclusion complex queries
  • Excellent communication, relationship, interpersonal and negotiating skills - internally and externally
  • Ability to build a profile in the market
