About the Role
The HSE Manager is responsible for driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture, strategy, plan and performance across a region.
Striving to advance Team Global Express’s (TGE) business strategy through enabling a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence the role is responsible for providing practical HSE advice and support to our people and delivering initiatives that continually improve our HSW culture and performance in line with our ‘First to See, First to Act Culture’ strategic priority.
What you'll do:
Conduct governance activities, data analysis, research and other technical health and safety work to assure quality application and ongoing improvement of the HSW management system, safety leadership and behavioural program.
Provide technical input to HSE planning, HSE risk management and management review processes e.G., dangerous goods, emergency preparedness.
Assist management with developing, monitoring, and reviewing in consultation with employees the Business Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System and HSE Plan with its objectives and targets.
Lead, participate and support in the investigation of any workplace incident, near miss or injury to ensure causal factors are identified, and preventive action taken.
Develop, monitor, and review in consultation with management and employees the business Health and Safety Management System and H&
S Plan with its objectives and targets.
Develop and document safe work procedures with management and employees.
Ensure that Health and Safety responsibilities of employees (including employees and contractors) are effectively communicated.
Identify and provide training to ensure that required Health and Safety competencies are met and reviewed.
Ensure in conjunction with management that hazardous substances, dangerous goods, plant, and legislated hazards are identified, and the associated risks are assessed and controlled in accordance with legislative requirements.
Provide advice and assistance to ensure the thorough investigation of incidents and the appropriateness of corrective actions to prevent a recurrence and eliminate or otherwise minimise risk.
Undertake Health and Safety audits and/or arrange for 3rd party Health and Safety audits and complete any corrective actions required.
Communicate the audit results to the business.
Maintain Health and Safety Statistical data and communicate results within the business.

Previous experience working in a high risk and or transport/logistics environment.
Minimum Tertiary qualifications (Diploma in Work, Health and Safety) or higher.
5 years’ experience in a HSE leadership role
Prior experience participating in internal audits and reporting outcomes
ICAM Investigation Training (or equivalent investigation methodology)
Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders
Excellent working knowledge and awareness of Work Health and Safety Legislation
Ability to challenge, influence, change and improve current systems, procedures, and processes
Experience in undertaking inspections, risk assessments and develop safe work instructions
Current Australian Drivers Licence.
