Head of Teaching and Learning, Wadhurst

Melbourne Grammar School is seeking an exceptional Head of Teaching and Learning, positioned in our Wadhurst campus.

Wadhurst is Melbourne Grammar School's middle school learning community for boys in Years 7 and 8, a purpose-built environment that supports the students transition from childhood to adolescence. The School is located at our South Yarra campus and is attended by approximately 400 boarders and day boys.

The Head of Teaching and Learning will lead and direct the development of the middle school pedagogy and curriculum and promote and direct appropriate staff professional development.

The incumbent will foster a love of life-long learning in students and staff and be an exemplar in role modelling the School's vision and values. The Head of Teaching and Learning will encourage good spirit and morale in the Wadhurst community, promoting open communication between students, parents, colleagues and the wider Melbourne Grammar School community

The Head of Teaching and Learning is a member of the Senior Staff, the Wadhurst Executive and, as such, is responsible for implementing the School's vision and values ensuring policy and practice is aligned with the strategic direction of the School.

This is an ongoing teaching position with a five-year appointment to the position of Head of Teaching and Learning

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a vision for learning and teaching in the Middle School.
  • Liaising with Subject Coordinators, Heads of Houses, staff, parents and students in matters related to assessment, subject choice and learning barriers
  • Providing leadership in implementing and coordinating the Middle School curriculum
  • Ensuring smooth curriculum transitions between our Primary and Senior Schools
  • Taking a lead role in the implementation, coordination and project management of a range of School initiatives.
  • Organising Staff Professional Development meetings, Staff Days, overseeing and developing the Professional Review and Development Program for teachers' professional learning and development.

VIT registration, or the ability to gain VIT registration, is essential. Graduates are encouraged to apply.
