This role will commence in Term 3 and will be for a fixed term of 18 months backfilling asecondment until the end of 2025.

As the Head of School, you will be responsible for working with the Executive Principal to enact the school's ongoing improvement agenda. The successful applicant will significantly contribute to a high expectations school culture that is focussed on continuous improvement to maximise each teacher and student performance and potential.
The key components of this role are to:

  • Deliver the vision of the department.
  • Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools.
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

This will be achieved through proactively and collaboratively working with the Executive Principal and the school's leadership team to build a school that lives the State High values of Excellence, Respect and Public Education. This work will be delivered through a collaborative process that builds a mindset of progress, expertise and visible culture.

The Role

The Head of School, will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Support the Executive Principal by leading the daily operations of the school.
  • Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Active participants in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Significantly contribute to the development and implementation of the school's 2025 - 2028 Strategic Plan.

About you:

  • This role will be suited to an energetic and strengths-focused individual who has strong leadership and relationship building skills as well as strong content and pedagogical knowledge.
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of current educational research, be committed to continual learning, demonstrate initiative, be futures oriented.
  • Staff at Brisbane State High access a range of core apps via a MacBook and iPad. Our students participate in a BYOD iPad program. Experience with or an ability to learn on the Apple platform would be advantageous.
