The Opportunity

As Head of Risk and Compliance - Consumer, you'll be responsible for the risk function across the Vocus Consumer organisation. In this key role, you'll develop and manage the execution of the risk management approach for Vocus's retail consumer facing brands, ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as Vocus Group policy, effectively managing and executing a balance between risk, regulatory requirements and commercial reward.

Leading a team with a broad remit - this role is both strategic and hands-on in nature. Key to your success will be to develop and roll-out operational risk management frameworks, processes, systems and capability that enable business stakeholders to support compliance and accurately self-serve regulatory decisioning where possible while providing strong risk and compliance-based governance reporting to the Executive team and Board.

Leverage your extensive knowledge of Telecommunications and Energy regulatory requirements, to partner with legal and regulatory colleagues to educate business owners and their teams on the regulatory requirements in their part of the business;
provide frameworks, guidance and governance for self-identification of risk and mitigations, and risk compliance;
and work collaboratively with business owners to ensure operational compliance readiness for 'new' or 'changes' to regulatory requirements, or business initiatives. Work closely with the Vocus Group Risk Team.

What you'll be doing day-to-day

  • Build, lead and develop Risk &
    Compliance team capability.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify, design, build and implement process and system controls to drive compliance with Regulatory requirements and Vocus Group Risk Management approaches.
  • Prepare reporting and guidance for the Board of Directors, Senior Management, Board Audit Committee, Risk Management Committee, and Monthly Business Review
  • Evaluate operational policies and procedures to achieve the identified risk management objectives and recommend improvements where necessary. Introduce new technology, improved Risk Management techniques and approaches to assist risk identification, measurement, and control.
  • Facilitate and coordinate business unit documentation of operational policies and procedures to improve risk posture and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor the progress of risk management processes on existing and new projects/activities.
  • Design, build, implement and run a 'self-audit' process to test processes / systems to ensure compliance with regulatory instruments.
  • Drive continual improvement by reviewing frameworks and processes based off feedback from the business, complaints, TIO, any legislative undertaking.
  • Advise management on risks and actions to ensure compliance and ensure a safe working environment by identifying and addressing risks within appropriate time frames.
  • Work collaboratively with business owners to ensure operational compliance readiness where there are changed regulatory requirements or new Consumer initiatives launching.

What you'll bring to this role

  • Demonstrated experience leading a Risk &
    Compliance team in the Energy or Telco industry.
  • Prior experience implementing self-risk audit processes into a multi-layered organisation and educating and partnering with business stakeholders to improve understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • The ability to implement processes and system controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the impact of change both from an organisational and people perspective, including offshore environments.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills coupled with strong outcomes-based stakeholder influencing skills.
  • High impact presentation skills demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to think strategically.
