Your new role
This role reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). As the Head of Risk Advisory, you will be a key member of AustralianSuper's Fund-wide Senior Leadership Network and the Group Risk Leadership Team. You will be responsible for monitoring, guiding, and advising generally across the Fund.
Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Risk Advisory function, execution of the operational management of the department including policies, processes, colleague experience, reputation, relationships, governance and risks of the Risk Advisory department and Group Risk in the context of the wider Fund.
  • Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund to drive the desired risk culture and foster an effective operation of the three lines of accountability model.
  • To provide thought leadership and strategic direction to key areas such as;
    Group Risk leadership team, Line 1 risk teams, member, investments and enterprise.
  • Deliver to the team's annual budget and business plan.
  • Ensure the team has adequate resources and culture to meet the near term and strategic goals and operational plans of AustralianSuper - right people, right place, right skills, at the right time.
  • Ensure relevant legislative and organisational requirements are met;
    keep up to date on all key changes to relevant regulations.
  • Motivate and inspire our people by demonstrating commitment to the Fund's values, decision pillars and leadership principles.
  • Provide leadership and coaching in an agile working environment to direct teams in relation to capacity planning;
    resource planning and flexibility;
    delivery;
    innovation;
    and governance.


What you'll need

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in a combination of leadership, as well as management and/or strategy roles, with a proven track-record of success in leadership positions is beneficial.
  • Highly developed leadership and people management capabilities, including developing high-performing, sustainable teams and culture, driving performance and behavioural outcomes through others, demonstrating empathy and creating followership.
  • A proven ability to build rapport across a wide range of stakeholders utilising subject matter expertise to develop enduring and trusted relationships.
  • Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A strategic thinker who can see how parts interact with the whole.
  • Experience working in or leading reporting, financial, communications, brand, capability, vendor management, and risk/ governance functions.
  • Regulated industry experience, ideally in financial services, and post-graduate qualifications are desirable.
