Reporting to the General Manager of The Athletes Foot, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as our Head of Planning for The Athletes Foot. In the role,you will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of the business. Maximising business profitability through effective decision making, recommendations and profitable management of merchandise through its lifecycle. This key role brings Leadership, as well as structure and process to our Commercial decisions and directly influences our profitability. You will be proficient in quickly delivering accurate analysis, that is both actionable and presentable to the senior leadership team. You will take a lead role in the presentation of financial plans, forecasts and promotional activity summaries and manage, develop and coach a team of planners.
The role will be responsible for activities at a specific business level including:

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the business and mitigate risk
  • Budget build in collaboration with GM and with direction from the Group Commercial &
    Planning Manager
  • Channel planning, Digital strategy, Assortment Planning oversight, OTB control and managing the business forecast review process
  • Driving business growth through influence and recommendations &
    process improvements
  • Post Seasonal Review and SAR process
  • Leadership, coaching and development of Planners, PA and ARA's


The Key Accountabilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintaining an accurate forecast of all KPI's
  • Summarising results
  • Headlining risk and opportunity
  • OTB Management
  • Profitable Promotional and Markdown management
  • Aged Stock management
  • Management of reporting
  • Maximising opportunity around sales and profit whilst mitigating risk and maximising return on inventory (GMROI)


To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated 5+ years' experience in Senior Planner role
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret data and identify implications and required actions as a result
  • Proven ability to manage and control an OTB
  • Proven ability to drive inventory productivity improvements
  • Ability to take a proactive approach and think strategically
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to make clear decisions, put plans in place and adjust based on results
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Relationship management and influencing skills
  • Advanced excel skills with the ability to lead excel based projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
