We are looking for an individual to be responsible for all Operations based in Australia, excluding Finance, Underwriting, Claims, and Actuarial activities. The primary focus of this role is to drive operational professionalism and deliver effective and efficient operational activities ensuring that all outcomes support the strategic objectives of the Australia business inthe APAC region. The role will play a critical role in shaping and delivering strategic operations initiatives whilst focused on driving a culture of continuous improvement. This role will be the principalengagement partner with Group Operations, Change and IT teams for the Australia business, leveraging technology solutions, shared services and innovation.

Responsibilities will include:

Operations Management

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business to effectively translate Australian business requirements to efficient operational and technology support
  • Designing, documenting, implementing, and supporting procedural reform, including working with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and Finance functions to decide where and how work will be completed
  • Systems and Process reviews across all functions to improve efficiency. Conduct efficiency review of business processes and identify areas for improvement in processes and cost reduction
  • Work with and support the regional data team to implement a sound data framework for Australia, including the acquisition and processing of data including the support of operational effectiveness through the use of data acquired
  • Work with the Country Head, Australia to identify and resolve operational, data, and process issues. Provide support in reviewing operational efficiencies and ensure so that shared issues and processes are managed in a consistent and effective manner
  • Assist and support Country Head, Australia and Regional Head of Operations in identifying functions and tasks which could be transferred to Shared Services. Define, develop processes and controls to enable the transfer. Implement, manage and monitor the transfer process
  • Develop and manage towards an agreed Target Operating Model, ensuring Australia has a cost-effective delivery platform
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations in order to ensure compliance with the regulatory and legal requirements
  • Acting as a liaison between Finance, Claims, and Underwriting for problem resolution and process support
  • Creating ad hoc Management Information and reports in order to ensure operational transparency
  • Policy production management and processing
  • Production of insurance documentation
  • Operating as an effective operations team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives

Regional responsibilities

  • Supporting APac Head of Operations, on a regional basis, as required, and providing potential succession planning capabilities
  • Work with APac and London Operations teams to identify processes, systems and best practices at group level which could be implemented in the region, or vice versa
  • Work with APac and London Operations and IT teams to identify new systems which could be deployed to the region to support process and / or infrastructure improvements and business growth

Skills and Character Traits:

  • Experience in Insurance and Insurance operations
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and / or Lean methodologies and person history of applying them to deliver positive business results. Knowledge of process automation / digitisation techniques preferred
  • Strategic thinker who can decompose complex issues to find solutions and demonstrates strong collaborative capabilities to achieve success
  • Exposure to data platforms and familiarity with the challenges of acquiring and presenting various forms of data types
  • Able to maintain a "
    Big picture"
    strategic view but roll up sleeves as needed to get things done
  • Successful change leadership responsibility with an ability to influence and effectively manage all stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Ability to create reporting frameworks that creates incentives within a process
  • Self-starter, ambitious, willing to learn, and comfortable leading in teams through challenging change projects
