St Aloysius' College
St Aloysius' College (the College) is a Catholic, Jesuit day school for boys from Year 3 to Year 12. Situated in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it has an enrolment of over 1200 students.

The Role

The Head of Information Technology is responsible for the leadership and management of the IT strategy, service and the associated IT team.

They will positively and actively engage in a culture of professionalism with a focus on understanding and meeting the IT requirements of the College.


The Head of Information Technology will ensure that the College operates this vital area of its works effectively and authentically in a manner consistent with the mission, values and essential identity as a Catholic, Jesuit school.

They will be actively involved and support key initiatives across the College where technology is an enabler for strategic or operational outcomes.


The College has multiple campuses, Milsons Point, the College Oval at Willoughby, and our brand-new Year 9 campus at Rozelle, all supported by the IT Team.

We are also proud to provide IT support to Redfern Jarjum College. Redfern Jarjum College is a small Ignatian indigenous primary school located in the heart of Redfern.


The Head of Information Technology will report to the Director of Business Operations and is responsible for demonstrating commitment to the Catholic, Jesuit ethos of the College and supporting the development of virtues within its students.


Duties of the position include, but are not limited to;

The Head of Information Technology will:

_Leadership and Governance_

  • Oversee project management across IT that aligns with the strategic priorities of the College, including our Master Plan Plan Magis;
  • Lead the continued development and implementation of the College's IT Strategic Plan in accordance with the College's Strategic Plan, Human Excellence;
  • Formulate and oversee the annual IT budget by managing and reporting on allocations and its implementation and stewardship;
  • Engage vendorsand the broader education sector to bring best practice and fitforpurpose solutions and strategies to the College;
  • Actively engage and contribute to key departments and initiatives across the College where technology is an enabler for strategic or operational outcomes.
  • Continuously improve the IT service within the College including service and support to staff, students, and parents;
  • Designing training programs and workshops for all staff
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and management of College policy and procedures with a particular focus on Risk &
    Compliance, Security, Privacy, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery;


_Operational Responsibilities_

  • Oversee the College's Service Delivery framework ensuring at all times the mission of the College is at the centre of the delivery.
  • Coordinate, analyse and manage the overall IT program and team including engagement with key stakeholders and projects across the College.
  • Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages and the design and deployment of new IT systems and services.
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure. Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain IT architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software, and interconnection of network information systems;
  • Liaise closelywith the Director of Communications on the stewardship of key information systems including the College Portal (Manresa) and Website;
  • Plays a key role in Risk Management &
    Critical Incident Management that involves communication to the College or wider community and active involvement in the relevant committees.
  • Manage procurement of IT products and services in alignment to the College procurement policies.
  • Running regular checks/audits on network and data security.
  • Provide regular reporting for the Board, Risk, Compliance &
    Safeguarding committee &
    the College Leadership Team
