Head Of Government Relations

Our client is a high-profile government organisation operating within a fast moving and ever-changing environment. An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Government Relations professional to join their corporate affairs and communications division.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, you will be responsible for providing high-level strategic advice to senior executives and the Board, offering insights on the organisation's strategic direction in alignment with parliamentary and political developments, leading a dynamic team fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

Our client is seeking a highly motivated leader with at least 10 years of experience executing strategic government relations with a core focus on engagement with ministerial, parliamentary and industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership, management, and team development skills, including mentoring and capability building to ensure high retention rates.

A strong understanding of the Australian economy, industry, and regulatory landscape is essential. The role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills, along with a strategic mindset for developing effective government affairs strategies, and proficiency in project and program management. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle complex issues and collaborate with stakeholders constructively.
