How will I help?

As the Head of Finance - Mortgages, you will lead and deliver the financial objectives of the Mortgage Line of Business (LOB) through partnering with the Managing Director, Mortgages and their Executive team, Divisional CFO and Heads of Finance across the Consumer, and Business &
Wealth divisions. This key role must monitor all aspects of financial control and performance to ensure both business management and statutory responsibilities are met. You will lead, manage, and motivate a highly engaged team of financial professionals, including attracting, retraining and growing talent.

As at FY23, the Mortgage LOB manages $485bn of lending and contributes approximately $3.8bn revenue to the division. This is an exciting and high-profile opportunity to serve as Head of Finance to a significant area within Westpac Group's broader proposition.

In the role of Head of Finance - Mortgages, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the production of timely, accurate and insightful financial reports for the Mortgage LOB that clearly align financial performance results against forecast, highlighting risks and opportunities enabling the LOB to make optimal decisions in accordance with applicable legal, accounting and regulatory requirements
  • Support the Mortgage LOBs implement a performance focus building strong working relationships with the LOB MD, their business leads and other business stakeholders
  • Ensuring accuracy and transparency of the Mortgage LOB financial forecasting and planning processes (including Annual target setting process and 3 year Board Strategy Review)
  • Assessment of risks and business issues for financial reporting and disclosure purposes and where applicable, contribute information for the preparation of the Group's approach to capital investment and major transactions
  • Drive the productivity agenda with the business
  • Drive the discussion and resolution of risks and opportunities across the businesses with the LOB MD, and business leaders
  • Assist in leading the LOB through complex commercial decisions, negotiations and market announcements, to support the delivery of strategies and plans across the LOB portfolio
  • Support and drive Finance strategic priorities across the Group and within the Consumer, and Business &
    Wealth divisions
  • Responsible for scoping, scrutinising and reviewing relevant Prudential Accountable Returns in a timely manner and escalating any matters to the General Manager
  • Act as the key conduit between Finance and Mortgage pricing team to ensure alignment of pricing decisions to the financial strategy
  • Support the Mortgage LOB in managing the trade-off between growth, return, pricing and capital efficiency to ensure long term shareholder value for the Group

What do I need?

You will bring significant experience in and knowledge of the Finance ecosystem, partnering with C-Suite Executives and boards to deliver financial objectives. Critical to the role, you will also possess strong experience in and knowledge of Mortgage products including product construct, market dynamics and offerings. Similarly, you hold a deep understanding of the cost of Technology and allocation models and drivers, as well as knowledge of formal and informal decision-making processes. You are experienced in Financial Business control and business partnering, have significant experience with reporting and presenting to boards and understands key linkages/interactions with other key stakeholders. With a track record of building strong commercial businesses, you're an engaging leader who thrives in a dynamic environment with a strong transformation agenda.
