About the Role:


The Year 7 and 8 Head of Year will work under the supervision of the Deputy Principal (Year 7 and 8) and in collaboration with Faculty Heads of Department, Year Coordinators, teachers and support staff to lead the academic engagement, wellbeing and positive behaviour the Year 7 and 8 cohort.

The Head of Year will nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, parents and stakeholders.

The Head of Department (Head of Year) will work as a key member of our School Leadership Team to enact our school improvement agenda to maximise student outcomes for students in Year 7 and 8.

As the Head of Year you will have responsibility for:

  • Providing leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance for all students, including students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Providing management and engagement strategies including induction activities for new arrivals that considers their specific academic, social and emotional needs. Monitoring students' individual performance and behaviour and, where necessary, developing and implementing holistic intervention strategies that addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of students in partnership with parents, staff and external agencies. Working with and providing tools for the school leadership team, Head of Departments, Year Level Coordinators, Guidance Officers and teachers to utilise in relation to student achievement and attendance. embedding socially just practices in daily school life through leadership in relation to student attendance and improved academic outcomes. Managing the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
