An opportunity exists for an outstanding, relational and innovative leader to join the Metropolitan North Regional Music team as a Head of Department (Curriculum), contributing towards curriculum implementation, high-level learning outcomes and quality pedagogy within theInstrumental Music program.
The role within the team has a learning enrichment focus, working with a range of stakeholders to deliver high quality programs and events to enhance music learning outcomes and experiences across the region.
This role isoffered on a full-time temporary basis with the start date in Term 3 to be negotiated with the successful candidate, until 13 December 2024 unless otherwise determined.

About the Role

As a regional Head of Department (Curriculum) with an enrichment focus, this role operates within the regional music team, reporting directly to the Regional Music Coordinator. The role is based at the Music Resource Centre (Everton Park), with travel to schools and regional offices within Metropolitan North Region as appropriate within the context of the role.

Working with a range of stakeholders, including Instrumental Music teachers/instructors, school leaders, the regional music team, corporate staff and external organisations, the successful candidate will deliver a curriculum-aligned range of programs that enhance opportunities for student engagement and learning and teacher capability development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The delivery of cluster and regional events which align with curriculum and program policy to enhance student outcomes and provide opportunities to develop the quality of teaching and learning within the Department's Instrumental Music program;
  • Development of services, programs and events to support schools and teachers to respond to local needs and contexts;
  • Review and reporting using relevant data, on the effectiveness of programs to stakeholders, including schools and the region to increase engagement and alignment;
  • Develop recommendations for future programs and events to enhance student outcomes and engagement and to build teacher capability;
  • Participate as an Instrumental Music curriculum leader on the state Instrumental Music team (inclusive of curriculum resourcing, state calibration, team delivery of professional development, including conferences)

About You:

  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of educational programs and events.
  • Experience and/or comprehensive knowledge of the Queensland Instrumental Music program and curriculum, including in-depth knowledge of at least one of the IM curriculum families (woodwind, brass, percussion, strings).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and programs with a large variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and people to deliver successful outcomes (524).
