Your Role

What you'll be doing

As Head of Data and Analytics for OneData, you will be accountable for the security, reliability, compliance, data quality, operations of the SDA. This includes data collection, management, and analysis processes to provide actionable insights, enhance decision-making, and drive insights, personalisation and commercialisation. The successful candidate will lead a team of data engineers, data scientists and analysts, collaborate with cross- functional teams, and ensure the effective use of data across not only OneDigital but broader Wesfarmers. Additionally, you will be responsible for maturing both the data and analytics platforms and operations for future cross-divisional/enterprise usage.

What you'll be doing

Team Management:

Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of Data Scientists, Analysts and Data Engineers

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a robust data and analytics strategy to further grow the SDA to power future revenue opportunities across the group such as Retail Media

Data Governance:

Work closely with Data Governance and Privacy function to incorporate data governance and privacy policies to ensure data integrity, security and compliance

Data Engineering &
DataOps:

Oversee the design, maintenance and data engineering and analytics practices to see continued growth and maturity of the Shared Data Asset and analytics platforms

Advanced Analytics:

Oversee the Data Science, Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning practices ti build customer attributes that drive personalisation and customer insights supporting OneDigital and Wesfarmers more broadly

Reporting and Visualization:

Oversee the creation of dashboards, reports and visualizations enabling insights into the OnePass Program

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with divisional stakeholders in the management and agreed usage of divisional data in the Shared Data Asset

Performance Measurement:

Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the accuracy and agreed usage of divisional data in the Shared Data Asset

Innovation:

Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance the data practices at OneDigital, including opportunities presented by generative AI

Operations:

Accountable for tech and people budget and relayed activities such as monthly financial reporting, forecasting etc

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bring 10+ years of experience in the management of data and analytics platforms, warehousing, data ops, and cross-functional data teams.
  • Extensive experience in running teams in agile environments to deliver projects across large scale enterprise.
  • Experience of a hands-on role through the full data lifecycle of design, development, delivery and ongoing support. Including an understanding of technical and data product management, advanced analytics methodologies, and machine learning practices.
  • Experience in using data at scale to drive commercial outcomes, including through personalisation
  • Experience with the data requirements, both technical and business needs, to support a retail media ecosystem
  • Experience in managing hybrid teams including specialist contractors in design/development activities. Confident people manager able to face into challenging conversations, set clear expectations and hold others accountable while cultivating a healthy team environment. An understanding of how to drive effectiveness in a team of technical experts through a combination of leading, coaching, participating, reviewing.

  • Uplift commercial data enablement, e.G.
  • Driving engineering efficiencies as evidenced by measures such as DORA, recovery time after bugs / issues
  • Optimising data quality and usability as evidenced by measures such as the Data Health Scores
  • Driving commercial outcomes through data, e.G.
  • Demonstrating measurable uplift in personalisation uplift in OnePass from the data products of OneData
  • Shaping new revenue streams from the SDA such as through retail media
  • Uplifting team capability and engagement, e.G.
  • Lift team engagement score
