About the role

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for shaping policy outcomes for the betterment of communities?

Do you possess strong leadership skills and a strategic mindset?

If so, we are seeking an Executive Director, Local Government to lead and manage the delivery of impactful policies within the local government sector.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Leads the DLGSC Local Government Team in the effective regulation and support of 139 LocaL Governments throughout Western Australia.
  • Oversees the delivery of legislative reform across a number of areas of legislation including the Local Government Act 1995.
  • Leads the statewide delivery of a number of high-profile projects and related government priorities.
  • Provides strategic support and advice to the Deputy Director General, Director General and Minister/s on Local Government regulatory and compliance issues, policies and programs and project delivery.
  • Fosters partnerships and collaborations within the Local Government sector including peak bodies and associations.
  • Provides strategic advice and contributes to across agency and interjurisdictional initiatives for the local government sector.

We have one 10-month, fixed term fulltime (75hrs p/f) position available. Whilst this opportunity is fixed term, the suitable candidate(s) have the possibility of subsequent contracts and permanency.

This role is based at 140 William Street Perth.

This central Perth location is a major hub in the CBD - linking directly to the Perth Underground railway station, with pedestrian laneways from Forrest Place and Murray Street Mall, connecting Northbridge and the William Street collective.
