About the program and role

The Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) is an Australian Government program that offers financial assistance and confidential support to people aged 18 years and above who have recently experienced intimate partner domestic violence. The program is designed to help people who have a changed living situation and are experiencing financial stress. The payment is available to people whose living situation has recently changed, or is about to change, because of intimate partner violence.

The EVP regional team is made up of a team of qualified EVP Senior Caseworkers who will be assisting people who have experienced violence in establishing a safe home and life. They will be working remotely with other colleagues and will be reliable and independent professionals that would be able to liaise and report back to the Team Leader in ensuring consistency in practice and outcomes.

  • emotionally mature and resilient.
  • minimum 2 years of experience in working within the community services sector with a good understanding of the domestic violence space utilising a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach
  • experience in maintaining and forging professional relationships with services working with victim survivors
  • demonstrated understanding of case co-ordination of clients with complex needs
  • good understanding of risk assessment and safety planning involved when an individual chooses to leave an Intimate Partner Violent (IPV) relationship
  • ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision as required
  • demonstrated cultural competency and experience in working alongside CALD and Aboriginal families
  • good verbal and written communication skills.
  • knowledge of local DFV, family and child services.
