This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About the Role

As the Director, Employee Relations, you will:

  • Demonstrate excellent people skills, leading a team of professionals in the delivery of industrial and employee relations services to the department.
  • Lead the development and provision of strategic employee and industrial relations advice and services for the Department of Education.
  • Provide timely, strategic advice and options to senior managers on a diverse range of complex industrial relations issues, negotiations and disputes as well as strategies to improve the industrial relations climate for the department.
  • Develop and implement a coordinated, integrated multi-team approach to employee and industrial relations across the various divisions of the department.
  • Lead high level arbitration proceedings in industrial tribunals and where necessary advocate the department's position on employee related matters brought before tribunals including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

A legal background would be of benefit.
