About the Role
The AUSTRAC Legal Team comprises three distinct legal streams, each of which is led by a specific Legal Director. Those streams are:
- Intelligence, Corporate and Privacy &
Information Access;
- Guidance &
Reform;
and
- Regulation, Enforcement &
Litigation.
Senior Lawyers will be assigned to a specific legal stream, but flexibility and a collaborative approach to work is valued as there is the need for all team members to work across various areas of law.
In partnership with other public agencies and private organisations, our purpose is to build resilience in the financial system and use financial intelligence to detect, deter, and disrupt money laundering, terrorism financing, and other serious crimes.
The role offers exposure to the public sector, including the National Intelligence Community, law enforcement and other regulatory agencies, and central policy departments, as well as the private sector, including large financial institutions and other regulated entities.

Candidates may be required to undergo psychometric and/or work sample assessment as part of this selection process. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment, maintain an ongoing security clearance and satisfy AUSTRAC's pre-engagement checks.
