The Role
As an EL1 Assistant Director within the Treasury Directorate you will be accountable for the following:

  • Managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing expectations and performance, delegating, guiding and developing people.
  • Manage all aspects of Defence's treasury and banking functions including appropriation management, bank recognition.
  • Undertake complex to very complex treasury tasks including the provision of high level advice.
  • Manage the implementation of continuous improvement activities for treasury.
  • Build and sustain relationships and liaise with major external and internal stakeholders including ANAO.
  • Evaluate treasury initiatives to understand critical factors for success and engage in activities to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Analyse very complex treasury issues, applying expertise to identify, design and recommend solutions to achieve outcomes.
  • Managing financial governance requirements and ensuring compliance with the financial management framework.
  • Developing position papers and providing sound financial advice to stakeholders on technical financial issues.
  • Assessing and evaluating financial strategy, initiatives, projects, policy and procedures, and engaging in activities to achieve local and Departmental improvement.

About our Team
Directorate of Treasury provides shared service Treasury functions to the Department of Defence, Australian Submarine Agency and the Australian Signals Directorate. Treasury team is of high strategic importance to the Defence portfolio through management of Defence's appropriations and bank accounts in accordance with legislation. Treasury also provides policy advice on the creation, management, reporting and reconciliation of external bank accounts.
