We are currently seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Executive to join our clients professional services firm. The ideal candidate will have expert Government experience and possess a deep understanding of financial accountability and management within the public sector. This is a key leadership role that requires exceptional skills and expertise in advising on government financial frameworks and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on the Financial Accountability Act (2009) or similar legislation
  • Deliver guidance on the Financial and Performance Management Standard (2019) or similar
  • Advise on Queensland Government Agencies guidelines, including NCAP, Financial Reporting Requirements, and Department financial's, or similar frameworks from other states
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and the relevant framework for public sector entities
  • Collaborate with Queensland Government Agencies to support financial management activities such as budgeting, accounting, treasury, and financial governance
  • Support financial, project, and public sector reporting within Queensland Government Agencies
  • Work closely with the Queensland Audit Office or similar bodies to ensure compliance and best practices
  • Provide advice on entity establishment options and activities, including funding and capital structures for Queensland Government Agencies
  • Experience working with or within other Government Agencies (Federal, Local, or Non-Queensland State) in financial, project, and public sector reporting
  • Familiarity with other Audit Offices (Federal or Non-Queensland State) and their practices
  • Knowledge and experience in advising on Large Infrastructure Projects for Government Agencies
  • Understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGP Act) in the Federal Government context
  • Familiarity with financial sustainability reporting, including incoming sustainability standards such as S1 and S2, as well as carbon accounting

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality financial advice and support in a government context
