Director Radiation Oncology

The Division of Cancer Services is looking for a Full Time Permanent Director for the Radiation Oncology Unit (ROPAIR). The Director assumes overall responsibility for the organisation, management and provision of Radiation Oncology inpatient, outpatient and outreach services delivered at or by the Princess Alexandra Hospital. This role provides professional leadership to Radiation Oncology ensuring excellence in clinical governance, education, and research.

About the Role

This role reports to Medical Director Cancer Services, Princess Alexandra Hospital

This role oversights specialist Radiation Oncology clinical care to patients and assumes overall responsibility for patient care.

The Director provides high quality, ethical, and evidence-based leadership to guide the clinical, education, and research activities of the Department. The Director is responsible for developing a positive culture within the unit to foster high performance, clinical outcomes, and staff wellbeing. In addition, utilising sophisticated communication and negotiation skills, the Director works collaboratively with other leaders and staff to achieve these outcomes across the hospital.

Specifically, this role:

• Works collaboratively with other leaders and multidisciplinary team members to provide strategic advice and contribute the development of the quality, cost-effective care across the hospital.
• Establishes and maintain strong partnerships with other unit directors within and beyond the Division of Cancer Services to initiate and progress strategic projects.
• Oversights the management of waiting times for all patients requiring (department) services with the view to progressing actions to ensure key performance indicators are achieved.

Staffing and budget responsibilities

This role leads the staff supervision approach in the unit and has budgetary responsibilities. The Director is accountable for the administration relevant cost centres and revenue streams of the unit.
