Director Portfolio Oversight

THE ROLE:

The Director, Portfolio Oversight will establish and manage the Portfolio Oversight team in the STS Unit, responsible for governance, reporting, benefits measurement and evaluation across the diverse range of STS reform projects and programs, encompassing both ongoing and newly proposed initiatives. As a new team, the Director will need to establish effective ways of working across the STS Unit, Austrade and STS partner agencies and bring together a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective portfolio management. The portfolio includes regulatory, digital and policy programs delivered across multiple agencies and at all stages of implementation from scoping through to complete. Effective portfolio management will provide Ministers and senior executive with clear advice on the delivery, benefits, risks and alignment of programs and will inform future policy development.
The Director, Portfolio Oversight, will lead delivery Portfolio Office functions, including quality assurance across STS programs and projects, providing a consistent framework for managing and measuring performance, enhancing integration across the portfolio, and providing expert advice to program and project managers over a complex, multi-agency portfolio. The Director, Portfolio Oversight will manage information to support STS portfolio governance, including developing relevant artefacts and reports. This will require close collaboration with program experts in multiple agencies and developing strong relationships that support sharing of information and expertise.
In addition, the Director, Portfolio Oversight oversees the monitoring and evaluation function. This aspect of the role ensures a consistent approach to evaluating the benefits and outcomes of current initiatives and developing a framework to monitor cross-border trade performance. This work will help demonstrate the value and impact of STS reforms to businesses, the community and government stakeholders.
