Exciting Role- Permanent, Part-time (0.2 FTE), Herston Provide expert clinical and strategic leadership to manage a comprehensive policy, legislative and management framework to address the public health risks associated with the emergence and transmission of communicable diseases that pose a current and future risk to the health of the Queensland population

The role
As the Director of Nursing for Public Health, your multifaceted role encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the highest standards of service quality and health safety. Leveraging your demonstrated expertise in clinical and managerial leadership, you will orchestrate the development and implementation of comprehensive policies and protocols tailored to the prevention and management of communicable diseases. This pivotal role requires a deep commitment to upholding the values outlined in the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award 2015 while navigating the complexities of contemporary public health challenges.

Your strategic acumen will be instrumental in guiding state-wide initiatives focused on combating communicable diseases, including the formulation of innovative interventions and the coordination of resources to address emerging threats. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, driving continuous improvement in public health services delivery. The successful person
To thrive in this role, you must exhibit a proven capacity to apply advanced knowledge, expertise, and skills within the realm of contemporary public health nursing. This entails overseeing, leading, and coordinating state-wide initiatives aimed at preventing and managing the spread of communicable diseases and the ensuing long-term health consequences stemming from initial infections. Moreover, you should demonstrate the ability to swiftly respond to emergent public health threats of state significance, including assuming leadership roles in coordinating responses and establishing incident management teams, even outside the usual workplace and for extended durations.

Furthermore, you should highlight your proficiency as an expert resource and advocate in public health nursing, offering strategic advice and consultation to stakeholders across disciplines regarding communicable disease prevention and control. Your role extends to driving state-wide strategic changes through initiatives focused on quality improvement and service enhancement, all while providing professional supervision to facilitate continuous development and growth.
