Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency

Details:
The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is responsible for the day-to-day management of ACT gazetted conservation reserves and public land including forestry plantations.

Parks and Partnerships is within the Parks and Conservation Service, the Parks and Partnerships section delivers operational land, asset, policy, procedural and people management across four direct reports for:

  • National Parks and Catchments:
    Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Murrumbidgee River Corridor, Lower Cotter Catchment;
  • Urban Reserves:
    Canberra Nature Park, Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, Molonglo River Park and Googong Foreshores and Urban Wildlife;
  • Volunteers and Visitor Services, including volunteers for ParkCare;
    and
  • Environmental offsets program delivery including monitoring and reporting on behalf of the ACT Government.

Specific to this role, National Parks and Catchments provides management responsibilities for Namadgi National Park, Murrumbidgee River Corridor, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Lower Cotter Catchment. The position is also responsible for the delivery of bushfire recovery activities and reporting to the ACT and Commonwealth government on this. The day-to-day management of land under forest plantation and rural areas within the western part of ACT is also a responsibility of the Region.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in natural resource management or environmental management or other relevant field is required.
  • Registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is mandatory for this position.

Notes:
This is a temporary position available until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
