Director - Electronics And Firmware

We are partnering with a leading Australian product design and development consultancy to help them find a Director to lead their Electronics and Firmware (E&
F) functions, drive business growth, and help their clients to build world-leading products.

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director and part of the senior management team, the Electronics and Firmware Director (E&
F Director) will connectbetween clients and project, drive revenue growth for the department, and team growth from a service offering and strategic perspective.

While this isn't a hands-on engineering role, the E&
F Director needs to partner with clients, project managers, and senior engineers to translate complex requirements into project plans and functional architecture.

The E&
F Director collaborates with senior management colleagues to deliver whole business revenue and profit, and actively contributes to the company steering committee.

The strategic aspects of the role include setting client conversion and operationalisation, setting goals for the team, hiring engineers, and delivering continuous improvement for the business including 'on' the business projects.

The team will rely on you to:

• Lead, build, and drive the Electronic Engineering and Firmware departments
• Nurture, oversee and strategically manage client accounts and projects
• Collaborate with other directors and work with the steering team to build and grow the Australian consulting business and team
• Drive revenue growth from the Electronic and Firmware engineering teams
• Implement strategy for the Electronics and Firmware engineering teams, working closely with department heads and program managers to develop skills, partnerships etc
• Serve as a point of contact for clients and manage key client relationships
• Partner with the business development team to help convert warm leads and bring new clients onboard.
• Support project prioritisation and planning
• Preparation of budgeting, monthly reports and approvals of related purchases
• Lead specific key initiatives from the strategic plan for the business
• Make key business and project risk decisions for the department and related projects
• Active member of the steering committee for the company, including OHS review and marketing plan review

Ideally you have:

• Extensive hands-on experience with embedded software development, or electronics and hardware engineering in a product development environment
• Managed complex tech projects and know how to build products from concept to production.
• The ability and desire to take clients on a journey and build long-term strategic relationships
• Experience leading team members, growing teams, and collaborating with senior managers
• Demonstrable experience in understanding client needs and meeting requirements
