The purpose of this role is to lead the Data and Analytics Division for the Sony Music AU/NZ region. As the Data and Analytics Lead, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of data strategies, overseeing data collection, analysis processes, and providing insights to support informed decision-making across the organization. This role requires a strong background in data management, analytics and leadership.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for a team of 1 direct report (with potential growth of team)
  • Develop and execute data strategies to support organizational goals and objectives
  • Consult with the business to identify areas of strategic analysis to answer key questions to build out recommendations and best practices
  • Be responsible for a central data and analytics team;
    ensuring reporting consistency, focusing on the high value business problems and displaying exemplary collaboration across all departments
  • Spearhead the roll-out of the global analytics toolset alongside our Global Data Science &
    Analytics team
  • Collaborate with the global analytics community to intake and share best practices across the ANZ business
  • Collaborate with internal teams - label and sales teams, business and partner development - and share findings from analyses
  • Understand data sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy
  • Explore new methodologies and technologies in the Analytics space to enhance our business offering
  • Build data intelligence capabilities in the region and add value through a data-driven approach on content, playlist, and marketing strategies
  • Develop data driven dashboards for use within various SME teams to help users better understand each partner and drive actions which result in stronger SME performance.
  • Present analysis, special projects and other findings to senior management across Sony Music
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and analytics
  • Ability to use insights to inform business decisions

Who you are:

  • 8+ years' experience in a Data and Analytics function
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in managing a team
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or other relevant qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize diverse elements of complex analytics projects to drive optimal outcomes
  • Advanced knowledge of Analytics methodologies (Clustering, Segmentation, Regression, Predictive).
  • Excellent Excel skills with experience designing PowerPoint presentations;
    Experience with Tableau, Alteryx or similar data visualization and blending tools as well as SQL using joins, nested sub-queries, aggregation, window functions, etc.
  • Highly organized team player who is detail oriented and pro-active, can manage multiple tasks at once and can work independently while thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively report findings and influence change within the organization
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to use insights to inform business decisions
  • Passion for music and desire to build a career in the industry
