About the Role

Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for education and business management? Swinburne University is currently seeking a Director for the Business, Design, Media &
ICT Programs within theVocational Education and Training (VET) division. In this role, you will oversee both the educational and business activities of the department, reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive VET.
As the Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of cutting-edge education programs that meet the highest standards of quality. Your contributions will be crucial in aligning these programs with Swinburne's strategic direction for 2025, and the VET Division Strategic Roadmap. Additionally, you will be responsible for effectively managing staffing resources to ensure a high-performing team, as well as overseeing the operational budget and business activities that support the University's overarching vision and goals.

The Director position will lead the vocational disciplines associated with this portfolio. The qualifications align to both National and Victorian skills needs and are focussed on quality outcomes for students wishing to enter the workforce or continue on to higher studies, in their chosen industries. The Director will lead the Managers, professional and teaching staff within the portfolio to meet high standards of education, quality standards and our regulatory obligations. The Director will develop, maintain, and continuously improve on our strong relationships with industry, community and government.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Relevant tertiary degree or vocational qualification including evidence of currency
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a large team and to work collaboratively with leaders across a tertiary institution to achieve outcomes
  • Demonstrated excellent communications skills, including the ability to build trust, foster innovation and collaboration and a strong action orientation
  • A proven record in devising and implementing innovative approaches to teaching and learning, including the application of new technologies
  • Experience in vocational education
