About the Organisation

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is a 228-bed level five facility with a 24-hour Emergency Department and a range of specialist services including intensive care, cardiology, geriatric, rheumatology, stroke, respiratory, oncology, renal dialysis, general medicine, orthopaedic, urology, vascular, general surgery, mental health, paediatrics and obstetrics.

About the Opportunity

T his is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse manager to work with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery (DONM) and the Leadership Team for the Hastings Macleay Clinical Network, in an operational leadership capacity, during a period of transformational growth and change. The Deputy Director of Nursing - Division of Surgical, Women's and Children's Services will lead experienced and caring nursing teams to deliver exceptional patient care to the people of Port Macquarie across various specialties of surgical, women's and children's services. This position will work collaboratively alongside the Deputy Director of Nursing- Division of Medical and Cristal Care Services.

The role reports to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery for Port Macquarie Base Hospital and is responsible for nursing operations and management of nursing services within the health facility that reflect current standards of nursing practices and Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures. Ability to participate in an on-call roster.

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Superior operational management knowledge and skills within a relevant setting with demonstrated ability to contribute to and report on KPIs as they relate to identified nursing and midwifery direction.
  • Evidence of successful achievement in ensuring the human, physical and financial resources of the service are managed, within a defined budget, to deliver safe and efficient health care.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with all levels of staff, patients and external agencies and the ability to positively influence organisational change
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use a variety of computer applications.
  • Extensive leadership using contemporary change management methodologies and an understanding of current issues impacting on the nursing profession
