Dental Officer - Department of Oral Medicine and Special Needs Dentistry

What you'll be doing
To provide a high standard of clinical and administrative assistance to the Head of Department in managing the oral health care delivered to patients within the Department of Oral Medicine and Special Care Dentistry. The role demands highly advanced skills to regularly manage patients with significant medical comorbidities and/or physical or intellectual disabilities, under local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation.

    Dental qualification registerable with the Dental Board of Australia
  • Registration:
    Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dentistry

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • Highly advanced skills in the management of patients with complex medical conditions and complex dental needs.
  • Advanced independent judgement and problem solving skills in a clinical situation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including the general public.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a preventative / population health approach to patient care.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, and within a large team exercising leadership and mentoring skills, as well as under the direction of clinical specialists.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
