Why this role?

The Project Director has full-chain responsibility for the project and the project team, especially in mega projects. The role will manage the interface with all key stakeholders (internal and external - main/sub - contractors, developers, architect, etc.) throughout the project. Directs and leads the project managers, teams and activities of designated projects to ensure that project objectives are accomplished within the agreed scope, schedule and budget, using approved KONE methodologies and tools.

This is a permanent job based in Brisbane.

What will you be doing?

Project management

  • Regularly meeting with customers, third parties and project managers to report progress.
  • Monitoring progress, providing financial control, and ensuring project quality and safety
  • Devising cost-effective plans and methods to enable effective completion of the project.
  • Managing risks to avoid impact to project targets.
  • Ensuring necessary permits and legal papers are secured prior to project commencement.
  • Ensuring project managers supervise and manage their own multidiscipline teams.
  • Making strategic decisions and providing the necessary leadership and direction for teams of project managers to implement those decisions.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers
  • Continual team competence development
  • Implement Sourcing Strategy and project savings.
  • Implement project program and attend meetings with customers to align targets.
  • Responsible for selecting, leading, directing, evaluating, and developing a team of project manager/s and other roles i.E. Design Engineer/s, Site Manager/s, Project Administrator/s, Quality Manager/s to ensure that the project is completed on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for customers' satisfaction and managing customer expectations.
  • Responsible for monthly project reviews, steering, project audits, handovers, and final closure.
  • Responsible for attending finance meetings with KEA Finance Team (results, forecast, challenges &
    opportunities)
  • Responsible for compliance to ISO 14001 and ISO9001

Leadership / People management

  • Leads the project group and subcontractors in an inspirational, motivating and result oriented way.
  • Identifies and facilitates project related change management activities &
    resources.
  • Leads the multifunctional project team and manages performance.
  • Communicates project goals, gives feedback on the performance and coaches.
  • Creates and maintains safety and security awareness amongst employees and subcontractors.

Are you the one?

  • Should have at least 15 years of experience in relevant project management experience of large or huge construction / site related projects, especially metro line / infrastructure project.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to navigate and drive win-win alignment/outcome within a matrix set up, consisting of various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound commercial and financial understanding. Experience in managing the profit and loss of a huge project. Able to bring this understanding to the team members.
  • An inspiring and motivating leader, who can rally and motivate the team.
  • Experience in communicating and negotiating with Unions.
