Design and set up a Lean Portfolio Management Office through the creation of a continuous stream of projects to deliver customer value with minimum waste of resources for our utilities client.

Our client is a great South Australian State Government administration, committed to delivering and preserving water for our state. We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Lead -PMO for a 12-month hourly rate engagement.

  • 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week
  • Adelaide CBD locations (2 days WFH allowed)
  • Adelaide based candidates only. This role requires the candidate to be in the office ideally on 3 days from office and 2 days from home arrangement.
  • $70 to $100 per hour base plus 11% superannuation on an hourly rate contract, 37.5 hours (15% casual loading included). The rate of pay is aligned with skills, experience, or expertise.
  • State Government Administration industry award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances and superannuation.

Main accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Design and set up a Lean Portfolio Management Office through the creation of a continuous stream of projects to deliver customer value with minimum waste of resources, and within the fastest time possible, whilst producing the optimum value for the organisation.
  • Ability to focus on delivering business value, not developing complex processes. The key to success will be being able to simplify the processes, make them fit for purpose, and ensuring they are clearly explained, understood, and aligned with the needs of the stakeholders.
  • Manage and deliver effective process improvement projects, working with colleagues across the business, and ensure governance, quality assurance and best practices.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring tasks are allocated and completed, driving projects quickly and thoroughly through Agile, Lean, and other project methodologies.
  • Identify and manage the organisational and process constraints within a project lifecycle.
  • Ensure a continuous flow of work to ensure no part of the system is overloaded.
  • Focus on delivering business value.
  • Ability to see the project portfolio and the individual projects as a whole picture.
  • Ability to focus and control handoff and dependencies of the project lifecycle, including people, processes, services, products, and relationships.
  • Influence the focus on handoffs to ensure people see why it is important not to overload the project key constraints within a project lifecycle.

Expected skills and experience

  • Experience in leading, motivating and developing effective teams to drive business value and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, developing or implementing PMO for a multidisciplinary organisation.
  • Considerable knowledge of PMO practise and methodologies.
  • Certification and experience/understanding PMI-ACP, CSM, Prince2, PMP or Lean Six Sigma

Additional information

  • Flexible hours and some after hours as required, some intra and interstate travel.
  • To ensure your safety in performing the inherent requirements of the role, you will be required to undergo initial and subsequent medical clearances in addition to some immunisations as relevant to your position.
  • Depending on the role you will be required to undergo initial and/or subsequent clearance checks to ensure your ongoing suitability for the role. These may include a criminal police check, traffic check, Working with Children and/or Working with Vulnerable People.
