The Opportunity:

Provide technical oversight and assurance for sustainment activities managed by the Capability Support Coordinator, encompassing systems engineering, configuration control, and material support processes

Offer informed advice to the SPO Principal Engineer regarding technical integrity risks and issues

Actively pursue efficiency and effective business practice within Enterprise Engineering to lower ownership costs and mitigate risks, supporting Navy objectives through Engineering IPTs

Respond to technical control directives from the SPO Principal Engineer to achieve engineering goals

Present recommendations to the SPO Principal Engineer on engineering matters, including assessing Deviations and Waivers, developing associated risk assessments, and identifying and implementing obsolescence solutions

Mentor engineering personnel to support professional development and gaining of engineering delegations

Evaluate and maintain the SPO Engineering Authority Register (EAR) and Technical support Network (TSN)

Foster collaboration with enterprise leadership teams to align engineering outputs with strategic objectives

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Support SPO retaining of AEO status

Support and advise SPO Principal Engineer

Provide general oversight of technical assurance program

Support in the development, review and update of SPO engineering processes

Provide technical Support to the SPO at large

Support ad-hock enterprise activities as directed by the Engineering Support Manager

What you bring:

Must be an Australian Citizen and hold an active AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (or higher) Security Clearance

Eligible to obtain SQEP Engineering Delegation Authority within an Authorised Engineering Organisation

Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience coupled with relevant qualifications)

Min. 15 years' experience in undertaking and managing designs

Min. 10 years' experience in Defence, Defence Industry, or DMO

Ability to take ownership of engineering decisions within a complex regulatory framework to ensure safe operations are maintained

Strong communication skills with ability to engage in stakeholders effectively both internal and external at all levels

Deep knowledge in depth/breadth of own discipline and a broad understanding of other disciplines within the engineering realm

Hold, or be eligible to hold membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer

Eligible for ITAR clearance (mandatory)

Experience in marine design, Department of Defence design delivery, and Technical Compliance Auditing (desirable)
