Communications Advisor (Events)

We are looking for an organised, detail-oriented Communications Advisor to join our high-performing Events team

This role is responsible for planning and delivering high profile, high-quality ministerial events.

This is a fast-paced and friendly environment with many last-minute changes and tight timelines. The successful candidate will be organised and flexible, and have excellent stakeholder skills.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating ministerial event briefings from beginning to end, including sourcing of all information, and engaging with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality events.
  • Producing high quality event documentation, including event briefings, logistical information and run sheets, in line with agreed event processes and templates.
  • Drafting speeches and speaking points.
  • Leading events at schools and early childhood facilities to ensure seamless implementation, including event photography.
  • Providing advice to the VSBA's executives, Ministers' Offices and internal teams on event opportunities, risks and issues management.
  • Initiating and maintaining effective and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate information for briefs.
  • Providing other communications and advice as needed, including supporting or assisting with other VSBA stakeholder events and work across the Communications branch.

This is a Fixed Term - Full Time role until 31 July 2027

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.

The VSBA delivers on three key priorities:

  • To build and expand the schools and early childhood services Victoria needs for its rapidly growing population
  • To reform how we maintain and modernise school buildings and grounds
  • To engage local communities, giving them more say and keeping them better informed about new schools and major upgrades.

The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.

With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.

The VSBA is made up of property and building experts, project managers, architects, former principals and
business managers and specialists in relocatable buildings, facilities management, communications, finance, data analytics and policy.

Inclusion at the VSBA
We acknowledge Aboriginal people and communities as the Traditional Custodians of Country on which we live and work, right across the state. We respect their Elders, past and present, and value the continuous and rich culture and history of First Peoples.
Our main office in East Melbourne is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation.

We celebrate diversity and embrace inclusion at the VSBA and we welcome applicants of any:

  • Cultural background, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Ability, including people with disability
  • Age
  • Parental or carer status
  • Race
  • Sex
