About the Opportunity
The Clinical Trials Project Director will assume a leadership role by providing expert advice on clinical trials, program governance, planning and change management matters, strategies and solutions. The Clinical Trials Project Director will work in collaboration with the Director of Strategy and Partnerships, SWSLHD;
Executive Director, Clinical Trials, Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research;
Clinical Trials Managers / Coordinators and the Executive Team.

What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Trials Project Director will assume a leadership role in SWSLHD Clinical Trials by providing expert advice on clinical Trials, program governance, planning and change management matters, strategies and solutions. This will be achieved in partnership with the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research (IIAMR).

The Clinical Trials Project Director will work in collaboration with the Director of Strategy and Partnerships, SWSLHD, Executive Director, Clinical Trials, IIAMR, Clinical Trials Managers and Coordinators and the Executive Team to lead all aspects of SWSLHD Clinical Trials. This includes coordinating all activities required to ensure the successful program management of Clinical Trials including Quality, Safety, Reporting and Governance.

Where You'll Be Working Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  • Relevant Tertiary Degree / Qualification and / or extensive experience at a senior management level in delivering health services, research and or clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing effective change in a health service, including complex change management, communications, risk management.
  • Highly developed negotiation consultation and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholders and objectivity in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience clinical trials, health service operations, planning and /or service development, including analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of 'Clinical Redesign or AIM Methodology' for change management as recommended by NSW Ministry of Health.
  • Well-developed written and oral communications skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with the project team, district management and key stakeholders.
  • High-level knowledge of inter-relationship between models of care, facility options and departmental operational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and independently initiate and prioritise actions to complete complex tasks.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
