A fabulous opportunity is available to join the NICU Nursing Workforce in the role of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Grade 2 - Lactation at Nepean Hospital.
The Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Grade 2 - Lactation is a member of multidisciplinary team who functions within the Division of Women's and Children. The role provides a lactation service to mothers &
families of Neonates inNeonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Nepean Hospital and guidance/support and education for nursing, midwifery, and medical health professionals. The position ensures provision of individual patient lactation care and exercises extended autonomy of decision making within a therapeutic environment.
You will be working within the team environment acting as an advocate for women/ families, a role model, resource, and mentor to multidisciplinary team members (undergraduate and qualified health professionals including nursing, midwifery, and medical). In this position, you will participate in and facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and clinical practice guidelines / procedures in relation to lactation.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation, Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders. colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant certification or equivalent experience. Relevant post registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualifications or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated change management skills in the provision, improvement, and monitoring of care outcomes within a multidisciplinary care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice safe nursing/midwifery care in line with policies and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the values of the service i.E., respect, communication, empathy, honesty, trust &
    leadership.
