About the team

The Alfred Psychology Department includes Clinical Psychology &
Clinical Neuropsychology.
The Alfred Neuropsychology service provides inpatient and outpatient assessment, interventions and treatment services to all Alfred programs. Neuropsychology also provides staff education and professional development, patient and family education and has an advanced trainee supervision program for post graduate psychology students, and neuropsychology registrars.

About the role

The position is a senior clinical role, ongoing. As a member of The Alfred Brain service, the clinical Neuropsychologist will provide a full range of services, including neuropsychological assessment, psychological intervention programs for functional seizures and mental health problems associated with epilepsy. In addition, there will be patient and family evaluation and staff in-service.
The Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist will also be a member of the Alfred Psychology Department. The Neuropsychologist will be involved in departmental activities and duties as time permits including the supervision of other neuropsychology staff and students, professional development activities and research on a pro rata proportion to the appointment. The neuropsychologist will participate in clinical activities and multi-disciplinary meetings of the Epilepsy Unit.

Skills &
Experience

Essential

• Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in the application of neuropsychology in an acute health setting, particularly in epilepsy and functional seizures
• Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor Status (Post-graduate students, Registrars, Junior Staff)
• A high level of written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and liaise and consult with a wide range of clients, carers, professionals and community agencies
• Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
• Endorsement as a Neuropsychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 or current Registrar
• Master in Neuropsychology
• PhD

• A research publication profile
• Experience in delivery of psychotherapeutic interventions for functional seizures
