About the Role


The Chief People Officer plays a key leadership role in influencing the University's strategy and success through its people by focussing on building culture and capability and continuing to embed a transformative shift in People Portfolio delivery to the University community.


As a part of the Enterprise Services Division, the Chief People Officer leads a team of human resource professionals to embed people strategies across the UniSQ workforce.


As the University's principal advisor on people and industrial issues, the role works directly with the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise Services) and Senior Executive on a wide range of complex matters.

In particular, the Chief People Officer is responsible for:

  • Leading the People Portfolio to deliver high-quality, responsive customer-focused services
  • The provision of expert advice, planning, leadership and assurance on people and industrial issues;
  • Leading the implementation of the University's People Strategy;
  • Working collaboratively with other University leaders to embed peoplerelated strategies and practices to enhance organisational performance and culture.

The Chief People Officer is based in Toowoomba and reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise Services) and is supported by the Director (Workplace Relations and Operations) and the Director (People Strategy and Partnerships).


The Director (People Strategy &
Partnerships) leads thefunctions of Organisational Development and Capability, People Partnerships and People Strategy and Diversity.


About you


The role requires an experienced leader with highly developed skills in stakeholder relationships, implementation of people-related strategies, use of analytics to support data-driven decisions and executive-level advisory and advocacy skills and expertise in contemporary human resource management and industrial relations.
