The Magistrates' Court of Victoria - Chief Executive Officer

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is a key part of the justice system with 51 courts situated across the State. It is Victoria's busiest court, determining 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. Magistrates hear and determine cases in the criminal division, civil division, in the specialist courts and in the family violence division.

The Chief Magistrate is the head of the jurisdiction and provides leadership to over 150 Judicial Officers. Supporting the Chief Magistrate is the Chief Executive Officer and almost 1200 employees engaged to provide a range of functions to ensure the delivery of justice services to the Victorian community.

The capacity to work effectively with the Chief Executive Officer of Court Services Victoria is critical as is the capacity to work collaboratively across a range of government and justice sector stakeholders.

With a vision to be an innovative, accessible court delivering fair, transparent and efficient justice, the Magistrates' Court seeks a Chief Executive Officer to support the Court's vision as it continues its journey of transformation to a future ready court of excellence that reinforces public trust and confidence in the justice system.

Critical to the role is strong financial acumen, the capacity to oversee a digital transformation, and build organisational capability while shaping a high-performance culture to achieve excellent outcomes. The person will need to bring outstanding leadership credentials, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to make well informed decisions.

Exemplary judgement and integrity, confidence with a results orientation, and a commitment to the values of the organisation will be of the highest importance.

Applications are expected by Friday 26 June 2024 and interviews will be held in mid-July. Please submit all applications via the Odgers Berndtson website .
